A man who evaded capture last night should not be approached by the public, Hamilton police warn.

Joseph Hueston, already on the run for allegedly ramming a patrol car last month, was one of two people in a vehicle pulled over in Hamilton about 5pm.

Constable Steve Wilson, of the Hamilton burglary squad, said Hueston, 24, and the other person in the car, were wanted for the ramming of a patrol car on March 18.

"We'd tried to arrest them for breaching bail but had our car rammed for our troubles and they got away until we caught up with them yesterday," Mr Wilson said.

While Hueston was able to evade his pursuers his 33-year-old transgender accomplice was not so lucky.

"One person was arrested on possession of methamphetamine for supply charges after the discovery of drugs in the vehicle," Mr Wilson said.

"We'd estimate the P has a street value of $3000 and a number of `tick lists' were also found in the car," he said.

Mr Wilson said Hueston should not be approached and anyone knowing his whereabouts should contact police.
