The cross-dressing man accused of being behind two Manawatu robberies appeared in court wearing a skirt and high-heeled boots yesterday.

Unemployed Marton man James Shevan Cassidy, 34, faces two robbery charges in the Palmerston North District Court. He was remanded in custody until July 15. Court documents showed Cassidy was charged with robbing a 56-year-old woman on June 29, followed by a similar charge.

The charges were from robberies of Feilding's Take Note Post Office and the Terrace End Post Office.
