Three days of inspiring events: Joanne
Clarke |
The transgender support
network's president Joanne Clarke says the annual conference aims to provide
the opportunity to share, network and build the trans community.
"'Being Who We Are'
is the theme for this year's conference," she explains. "It
encapsulates the very essence of who we are now, as a community filled with
many shades of pink, blue, in between, and even still questioning. Whatever
your level or affiliation within the transgender continuum, this conference is
for you."
Clarke is keen for
conference attendees to feel inspired, captivated and entertained by the array
of guests and activities planned over the three-day conference.
"Among us will be
many talented and dynamic individuals either from within our community, or who
provide a service to our community," she explains.
The event is open to all
members of the wider transgender community and their supporters, "and is a
chance for many of us to come together and share our experiences in a safe
inclusive environment.
"The Transgender
community is one of the most marginalised groups in the world as detailed in
the recent release of the Human Rights Commission's Transgender Inquiry
report."
The Agender network has
just announced a scholarship fund for assistance to those who might otherwise
not attend the conference due to difficulty with being able to fully fund their
conference fees.
