Hi Michelle
In order to obtain the Court Order from the Family Court you must in the
first instance serve the Registrar-General's Office with the papers before
the Court hearing.
As the Family Court - Pursuant to Section 28 of
Births, Deaths & Marriages
Registration Act 1995 have issued a declaration as to the sex to be shown
on your birth registration and now this declaration has been made it is to
be deposited with the Registrar-General, a new birth registration will be
created and birth certificates issued from that record after that will show
your new sex and the new name that you have chosen. Your previous birth
record will be closed.
The fee to be paid to Births, Deaths and Marriages when
you deposit the
Declaration with the Registrar-General is NZ$50.00. If you require a
birth
certificate once the new birth registration has been created then a fee
of
$26.00 is required The necessary forms to use to
complete this process
will be sent to you once we have the necessary paper work from the
Courts
etc.
Please advise whether or not papers were served on the
Registrar-General's
Office before the Court hearing.
