My Thai Language Notes (some of this is borrowed from other websites)

 

Women use “ka” on the end of everything. Doesn’t seem to meen anything just somehing that is done. Some put a real strong accent on it like “kaaaaa”

Also women will use "chan"for the word "I"

 

Here are a few basic words to start off with. I will add more later

 

hello =  Sa  wat  dee  “ Ka”

 

How are you?" = sa baay dee ru  ka  (Locals use sa baay dee mai ka)

 

 I am fine  =  sa baay dee  

 

And you?  =  lao khun lae

 

Thank you  =  khaawp khoon ka

 

What did you say?  =  a rai na

 

I don't understand  =  phohm mai khao jai 

 

I'm sorry (excuse me)  =  khaaw thoht ka

 

Can you speak English? =  khoon phuut phaa saa ang grit dai mai

 

Goodbye - la-gon

 

It's ok  =  mai ben rai

 

No = Plau ka  (female)

 

Country = bra-tet

Hello  khor sai Jane Smith kaa =  Hello. Can I speak to Jane Smith (female)

Her name is Lawan - chue khong ter kue Lawan

My name is Lawan - dii chan chue Lawan kaa

I come from - pom maa jaak  New Zealand

Lek Hong = room number
